Background

LEAN is a tried and tested methodology that maximizes efficiency and minimizes waste specifically in processes. It originated with Toyota which revolutionised the manufacture of goods more than 50 years ago. If your organization is dependent on processes to bring about a product or service, then LEAN is a perfect method to add value to how you are doing things.

Programme Objective

By the end of the programme, participants should be able to do the following:

  • Appreciate the concept of ‘value’
  • Differential between value and non-value activities
  • Appreciate the concept of ‘flow’
  • Understand value-stream mapping (VSM)
  • Explain the accompanying concepts – Kanban, Visual Management, Root-Cause Analysis, Illustrate the use of 5S
  • Create VSM for an actual process
